PhotoResampling


Working with digital images or photos, anyone knows that the size of an original image rarely matches the size needed for printing, web publishing or simply to be watched on the computer.

Sometimes you may think to have your image sized with a proper dimension, but that's not always correct.
Usually an image resampling is performed by your graphic editor or by your printer driver often resulting into a non-satisfactory result due to plain algorithm used for resampling.
Conversely as you may think, a 2816x2120 pixels photo (6MP) is not big enough to be printed in 4x6 inch (10,16x15,24 cm) format and a resample will be necessary.

An important value that you must consider during the printing process is the PPI printer value.
It actually sets the photo resolution needed to print the image.

PhotoResampling is capable to manage more than 9 resample algorithms. GBLS is my own algorithm which, offers better results than all other common algorithms.


GBLS is an iterative algorithm that allows you to choose the number of iterations.
Anyway keep in mind that more iterations do not always result in a better image, in any case the process will last longer.
GBLS is better suited for enlargment of 250% or more.
