- Chord progressions of graduated difficulty in pop, Latin, country, rock, and jazz styles with instant feedback, immediate scoring, and self testing.
- Begin with the easy task of identifying only the I or V chords and advance to identify all diatonic and 'borrowed' chords by ear.
- Chord ID has 29 levels of graduated difficulty in 77 files, 20 questions in each file, a total of 1540 eight bar chord progressions played in random order in each presentation for almost unlimted practice.
Chord ID has three answer modes: Functions (Roman numerals), Chords (C Maj, Dmin, etc.), Qualities (Maj, min, dim).
Identify chords by clicking a screen button as the music plays. Repeat as necessary, click the appropriate box and change any chord, then check your answer.
Most students use the Functions mode (screen shot above) to identify each chord by function. For example, if the chord root is the 5th scale step, the chord function is V.
Advanced students use the Chords mode (screen shot below) and identify the chord by name.
Beginners use the Qualities mode (screen shot below) and identify the chord by quality: major, minor, or diminished.
HOW IT WORKS
Click the green triangle to hear a sequence of 8 chords (1 per bar) played at a moderate tempo. Identify each chord by clicking a screen button. Repeat as necessary, click in the appropriate box and change any chord, then check your answer.
The 20 8 bar chord sequences in each file are shuffled in each presentation.
Automatic scoring, based on number of correct clicks, can be reset at any time. (You cannot immediately repeat a question to improve your score. You must answer another question first.)
See or hide the correct answer at any time.
The Help file in Chord ID contains suggestions about how to listen and practice, related music theory, and the notation of all basic scales
and chords.
