Review by Therefore Creative: Secure Hive has been very useful to us since we started to use it internally at the beginning of 2005. Before that we used another product which was good but did not have the ease of use and the part encryption benefits that Secure Hive has. Working as designers this has been very useful for us as we can produce documents with both words and pics and encrypt either the Pic or the words. This has been very useful on projects when sharing the document as only a need to know member can see the full document. We are going to start recommending it to our clients and if they do not wish to buy it there is a free copy or lite version, which acts as a reader and does encrypt documents up to 35kb. Review by Mark Nelson: Looking at the CryptoHeaven source code (downloadable at the CH web site ) I can confirm that all of the messages and files stored on the server are in an encrypted form. Too bad the server code is not available, but noone wants to work for free so I can understand that...
Basically the administrators of the system have no way of knowing what is being stored on the servers because all root keys in the encryption chains end up on customer's PCs (always encrypted) or stored encrypted with customer's own passphrases which never leave their computers, nor are stored anywhere. As far as I can tell, this is a major difference between CryptoHeaven and most other online storage providers which only make the connectivity SSL secure, but not the ... (5/5 - 13-Jul-2005)
